Volunteer With Us
Join us and help make a difference for disabled people. We have tasks available for both horsey and non-horsey people. You don't have to be "horsey" to volunteer, and we understand that you may not have a lot of time. There are many ways in which you can help:
- Leading and side-walking
- Welcoming riders and their families
- Setting up and packing down
- Doing administration and office work
- Carrying out stable duties
- Gardening
- Fundraising and events
No prior experience is needed as we will provide training.
The benefits of volunteering at Tauranga RDA
Volunteering with us can be a great way to:
- Make new friends
- Get fit
- Gain experience
- Learn new skills
- Become part of our RDA community
- Provide a wonderful experience for children and adults with disabilities
We provide volunteer training
We offer a range of training options for our volunteers. Our training includes new volunteer training, online seminars, face-to-face training, and the opportunity to gain NZQA credits towards formal qualifications. All of our training is designed to help you learn how RDA can benefit our riders. We also offer in-house horse care and medical conditions training.
What happens next
If you're interested in volunteering with us, please get in touch by phone or email first. Once you've done that, we'll need some information from you to complete a police and reference check. Once the safety check is complete, you'll be able to start volunteering with us. Before that, though, you'll need to go through an introduction to New Zealand Riding for the Disabled for new volunteers.
Finally, please complete and return our Volunteer Agreement Form to admin@taurangarda.co.nz
Come along to our Volunteer Open Day, Tuesday 14th of May, 2024, 9.30am to 11.30am. Click here to find out more details.
